Robin helped create one of the first LGBTQ+ mentoring programs in the country in 2005 and has assisted with developing curriculum for other organizations including Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the Governor's Prevention Partnership.

She is the recipient of numerous awards including the 2019 GLAD Award for Leadership; the 2016 Central Connecticut State University’s Women of Influence Award, the 2014 Human Rights Campaign’s Upstander Award for Leadership in LGBT youth issues; the 2011 University of Connecticut, Provost’s Award for Excellence in Public Engagement; the 2009 Hartford Courant/Fox 61 Tapestry Award, the 2008 National Education Association’s Virginia Uribe Award for Creative Leadership in Human Rights and the 2008 Social Worker of the Year (National Association of Social Workers, CT Chapter).
In 2009, Robin was chosen by the National Association of Social Workers and Lambda Legal Education and Defense Fund to create and present a master train-the-trainer program to 40 master trainers around the country.
In 2011, she was profiled in the Hartford Courant Changemaker Series.
Her other awards include a diversity award from the National Association of Multicultural Education (2006); a Leadership award from the New Haven Gay and Lesbian Community Center (2005); Diversity Leadership award from the Yale School of Nursing (2003); Leadership Recognition award (2002) from the Pride Community Center; “One Woman Makes a Difference”, presented by the Connecticut Women's Education and Legal Fund (CWEALF) (1999); Sexuality Educator of the Year (1997), a Legislative Educational Advocacy Project (LEAP) award for outstanding youth organizing (1997); and a Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network (GLSEN CT) award for her efforts to create a safer, more equitable environment for LGBT youth and their allies in schools (1996).
